Live Mother

...let's all get up and dance to a song/that was a hit before your mother was born/though she was born a long, long time ago....

It was Mother's Day several years ago that I passed a cemetary, and wryly observed many people bringing live flowers to their dead mothers.

I started to cry because I suddenly realized that one day, I would be one of those people.

I bring flowers to my mother more often now.

I bet you will, too.

I called Mom yesterday, since she's 600 miles from me. At the time she and Dad were out for a walk, and I could hear their feet on the gravel and hear a bluejay in the background, and suddenly wanted nothing more in the world than to be walking along with them.

In about a month or so I'll be able to do so, at least for a day or two before I have to return home...

I used to always get flowers for The Wild Granny for Mother's Day and birthdays and such. Such small things made her very happy.

I don't take flowers to the cemetary because she's on the dresser in the garb room (her old room). It's more convenient and yes she still gets flowers (they're the artificial variety now though).

Hey, guys, good to see your typeset. Thanks for sticking with me through the sullen winter silence.
